Sacred Catholic Music

Favorite Catholic Music for Holy Mass and Devotions

Naturally, Catholics in the pews are have a wide spectrum of musical preferences. Each parish also develops its own favorite repertoire.  Sacred Music for the Holy Mass is often an area where some people are the most vocal about what they like and do not like.  And when they say they like or do not like "traditional music" or like or do not like "contemporary Catholic music" they often disagree about what songs actually fit in each category.  Their previous parishes and the culture of those parish communities can have a profound effect on what they consider desireable.   What's a poor pastor to do?  He can keep some peole happy all the time and some people happpy some of the time, but he finds it impossible to please others any of the time.

Your pastor has researched this topic and come up with the following list of favorites. You can agree or disagree, but at least it is a talking point. When I ask them to recommend music to me, they often are silent, because they cannot come up with more than a few names off the top of their head.  Maybe this list will help.  Naturally, at Saint Clare of Assisi Parish we mostly use music in our GIA Worship IV because that is what we purchased and it sure beats having to print up a thousand or more music sheets every week and buying multiple copyright licenses.  Here is the list of favorites which we might edit as needed:
